PIcture of Godstone Green.
Hello, and welcome to the Godstone Road Collapse Website. We hope you find this information informative, helpful and empowering. This website was set-up by a dedicated group of business people from Godstone, who have been directly and adversely affected by it.
While we welcome responses from the local community, we do not tolerate any form of hate speech or abuse, or uninformed opinion posts.
Hence, while there is speculation about the impact of major heavy duty lorries on the high street, without current factual evidence to back this up, we advise that this does not become a forum for that conversation.
Having said that, we do believe it is a big issue, but currently want to focus on the pressing need for financial support and compensation, particularly for the businesses and residents that have been hardest hit.
We thank you for your interest in this website and hope it both helps, empowers and engages you in our fight for justice.

Hi Bren,
I am really sorry to hear about your continued problems regarding the situation you are in.
Have you applied or spoke to the council about getting an assisted bin collection? This simply means that they come and collect the rubbish and recycling direct from your property. It will mean getting smaller bins, but they will collect them directly, without you needing to walk out to move them on the bin day. I know this because my mum has an assisted collection, and it does make things easier.
If this avenue has already been explored let me know please, and I will see if I am able to get hold of anyone at Tandridge, and advocate on your behalf, if you would like me to do so? Definitely due to your circumstances you should be entitled to it.
Regarding the other issues, Surrey County Council are refusing to give residents discounts in Council Tax, which is despite pressure from Tandridge to offer a reduction. Also I and some other people have been in touch with the Chief Execs of Surrey CC and Highways, regarding the liability report. We have been promised a full response, though over a week has past and I have heard nothing. I will definitely chase it up if they have not replied by after Easter, as without any acceptance of liability no compensation or case can be put forward by affected residents. This will not be allowed to continue indefinitely, and whether a petition or more direct action needs to be taken in the absence of a response, we will definitely urgently look into.
Hope this helps a bit, and again I am so sorry to hear of your situation.
